Estuary Field Trip Friday July 24th 2009

Photobucket
Yesterday, the staff and students went on a field trip to the Tijuana Estuary. Everyone had a great time and we thank the Park Rangers for taking the time to make our trip a success.

Before we could start, we had to make sure that everyone was accounted for. Mr. Arnel and Mr. Carlton took care of this important responsibility.

Hiking from the School to the Estuary. Right-Left or Left-Right. For safety, we keep one foot on the sidewalk and the other on the grass.

Playing on the slide. Is Mr. Arnel playing "King of the Hill" or "praying for Rain"??

After all that play the students need to refuel, so here they are enjoying their morning snack.

Firemen - We Also Read!!!

Who would have thought that these big, brave Firemen had such a wondrous hidden talent. Here they are reading stories to our students and other local children at the library a week ago. The kids were very happy and listened attentively (well, most of them did) while members of out local Fire Department shared with them.

We thank them for both there full time job (protecting us from danger) and there hidden talents (caring about the smallest members of the community).

Young Patriots

Last week our students learned about patriotism. The Library sponsors a project that encourages people (Young and Old) to send supportive mail to our service personnel overseas to show that we care about them. The library supplied letters with large diagrams that the kids could trace with messages of support on them. After they finished we returned the letters to the library and they sent them off to service personnel overseas. Even though our children could not read the letters they wrote they knew what they said and that they were helping these men and women to feel a little closer to home.

Here are a few pictures we took during this project.
